Hull City braced for significant week as excited Liam Rosenior plots transfer success
The Tigers hope to have a couple of new arrivals in the door this week
Events between now and Saturday’s trip to Ewood Park could well go a long way to shaping Hull City’s season, with Liam Rosenior hopeful of adding key new additions.
Burnley midfielder Scott Twine was left out of the Clarets’ squad for their 3-0 defeat to champions Manchester City on Friday night as the Premier League campaign got underway at Turf Moor, with discussions ongoing over the Tigers’ long-term transfer target.
City will aim to wrap up negotiations with Burnley early this week amid a desire to have Twine in the building and available for selection on Saturday, as the Tigers look to add to Saturday’s terrific 4-2 thumping of Sheffield Wednesday.
Twine’s imminent arrival will provide the Tigers with a huge boost, particularly given his abiloty to create – and score – something Rosenior has been keen to add this summer.
Elsewhere, Rosenior will hope to strike a deal with Derby County for midfielder Max Bird despite seeing their first two bids rejected by the Rams
Derby chief Paul Warne admitted last week that he thought some of his players’ heads had been turned amid interest and while he didn’t name Bird, it’s understood that was the inference, particularly given the 22-year-old is keen on the move.
Bird was again in the Rams’ side on Saturday and delivered an impressive showing in their 3-0 win at local rivals Burton Albion
Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is another target for the Tigers and talks with the Eagles are ongoing over a loan deal to bring the 20-year-old, and though they face competition from elsewhere, Rosenior believes he can tempt him to East Yorkshire.
The Tigers are also in talks with another highly-rated winger over a permanent transfer, with a bid lodged with the selling club, and Hull Live understands that the player has already expressed his desire to come to City, after positive talks with the club.
A goalkeeper is another area City are keen to strengthen and have held talks with a potential new arrival, though, as it was reported last week, it won’t be Manchester United’s Matej Kovar.
United had initially hinted at a possible loan move for the 23-year-old, but have since decided to seek a permanent deal for the Czech Republic youngster and it appears he’s on his way to German side Bayer Leverkusen for £8m.
Naturally, should City sign the five players they’re chasing, there will need to be members of Rosenior’s squad that need to leave the MKM Stadium.
Ryan Woods has been told he can leave the club and is in talks with a League One club over a possible switch, while Ryan Longman was in Istanbul last week to have talks with Fatih Karagümrük, but it’s understood the 22-year-old has turned down that move with his preference to remain in England and was back on the bench at the MKM on Saturday.
Longman is keen to stay at City but has been told that his opportunities will be limited, and is thought to be on the radar of a number of League One clubs.
