Hull City suffer blow despite rampant away victory at Stoke City
The Tigers were 3-1 winners in front of the television cameras on Sunday afternoon
Hull City star Jacob Greaves will miss Saturday’s home game with Plymouth Argyle at the MKM Stadium after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Stoke City on Sunday.
Greaves was cautioned for a second half lunge on Sead Haksabanovic by referee Thomas Bramall in the second half of City ‘s comprehensive 3-1 success at the bet365 Stadium, ending a 6,000-day wait for a league win in the Potteries.
The stand-in skipper picked up his four previous bookings in games with Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Leicester City, before his Sunday lunchtime caution in front of the television cameras.

His absence will almost certainly hand a first league start of the season to Sean McLoughlin alongside Alfie Jones when Argyle visit East Yorkshire on Saturday, having come off the bench in the closing stages at the bet365 Stadium as City secured their third straight-away win thanks to goals from Aaron Connolly, Adama Traore and Regan Slater.
“I’m really happy,” said Rosenior, who marked the 50th game of his managerial career with victory in Staffordshire. “It always feels good when you win away from home and more pleasing than just the win was the performance.
“Everyone was excellent; we showed energy and confidence in the way that we played in possession and we were difficult to break down. The signs are really good, but the only stat that matters to me is where we finish at the end of the season.
“It’s brilliant to get the win but it has to be towards something so I won’t get carried away. We’re in a good place; we don’t need to focus on the results because they come as a product of our performances and they’ve been consistent this season.”
Argyle will come into the game on the back of a thumping 6-2 win over Norwich City at Home Park on Saturday, while City will start the game fourth after Sunderland were beaten 1-0 at home by Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.
