Everton transfer news as Sean Dyche shares Andre Gomes exit verdict today
Sean Dyche believes it is “unlikely” Everton midfielder Andre Gomes will depart the club on Friday 15 September and wants him to be a part of his plans this season.
Liverpool ECHO journalist Joe Thomas, taking to his personal Twitter account on 15 September shared Dyche’s comments from his press conference with the Toffees boss admitting that Gomes could still remain an Everton player after the Turkish deadline ends on Friday.
FotoMac reported on 13 September that the midfielder is set to swap Goodison Park for the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in a £4.3million deal as Fenerbache look to bolster their defensive midfield options but a potential deal has hit the roadblocks [Sporx, 14 September].
Gomes was named in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad and Dyche has now shared that he hopes to have Gomes available to him after Friday.
He said: “It is unlikely. He has been unfortunate with injuries and I want him to be a part of what we do. He is a very good football. I think he will be here at the end of today.
“I hope he is.”

Exit stance clear
Just when it seemed like all Goodison Park hope had been lost for the 30-year-old Portuguese international, Dyche has now made his stance on Gomes’ potential exit very clear.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a permanent exit from Goodison Park for all of about two years now but a move never seemed to materialise and that looks to be the same outcome right now.
It’s been a long while since Gomes last starred in front of the Everton fanbase with his last Premier League appearance coming against Crystal Palace on home turf in May 2022 [Transfermarkt].
Since then the 29-time Portuguese international had a loan spell at LOSC Lille which proved rather successful featuring in 26 Ligue 1 games, scoring three goals and registering two assists.
And it seems as if Dyche has taken those showings in France as an indication to try and keep Gomes at the club and it may turn out to be an excellent decision given Gomes possesses all the midfield attributes Everton need in midfield alongside the likes of Amadou Onana.
Gomes is a technically gifted outlet, possessing a tremendous weight of pass, and great vision and could prove the difference maker in a team not possessing many well-rounded players in the middle.
It seems like Gomes has a future on Merseyside after all.
In other Everton news, a player stance has emerged on a potential free transfer move to Goodison Park.
