First remarks made by Murat Ülker following Hull City’s huge seven-figure McVities agreement

Murat Ülker, the owner of McVities, believes the company’s recent sponsorship agreement with Championship team Hull City is a proud moment for one of Britain’s most recognizable brands.

The lucrative three-year, seven-figure contract has been in the works for months, but it was only officially revealed before Wednesday night’s Yorkshire derby match between City and Leeds United.

For the first time, City’s home shirts had the McVities logo on the back while the MKM Stadium sponsorship boards advertised the biscuit firm, and members of the media were given packets of biscuits upon their arrival, and moving forward, the first team training wear will also bear the name across its front.

“@hullcity and @mcvitiesofficial are teaming up,” the billionaire businessman wrote on Instagram, posting a picture with Tigers owner Acun Ilicali. “This cooperation means a lot in terms of the power of Turkish entrepreneurship on the global arena! Seeing the legendary McVitie’s logo on Hull City’s tiger jerseys and training clothes is a reason for us all to be proud of. Together in a journey to success.”

The company that owns the McVities brand is called pladis, which also owns a number of well-known household brands like Godiva and Ülker, which is well-known in Ilicali’s own country. They have a close friendship, and the 67-year-old has previously attended the MKM Stadium to watch the Tigers play, showing the support Ülker has been eager to provide City.
