Ipswich Town Battle Leicester City And Blackburn As Championship Transfer Tussle Hots Up

Ipswich Town has joined the likes of Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Hull City and Birmingham in the hunt for in-demand Crystal Palace loanee Jesrun Rak-Sakyi after spending last season on loan at League One Charlton Athletic, according to Alan Nixon.

The 20-year-old has been allowed to leave the Premier League side to continue his development, with five Championship sides now battling to convince the player that they are the right destination. The forward was a key part of Ben Garner, then Dean Holden’s side contributing 15 goals and nine assists in 49 games. His mazy runs from deep into the attacking third caught the eye of television cameras and pundits on more than one occasion throughout the season.

There is now a decision to be made alongside fellow loanee John-Kymani Gordon as to their destinations, with the latter linked with Mark Hughes’ Bradford City. Ipswich Town are looking to build a side capable of competing in the Championship after achieving promotion to the second tier last season. Kieran McKenna’s side and have so far got off to a winning start beating both Sunderland and Stoke as well as coming out on top against Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup. They face Gareth Ainsworth’s QPR next time out.

The forward is clearly talented and in demand, however he will need to choose somewhere that will be best for his development, ensuring game time and a quality of coaching. McKenna is known for being able to develop the youth through his time working in the Manchester United youth set up, so it may well be the perfect opportunity for the player to work with a coach with the patience and ability to trust young players.

He certainly has a choice on his hands and I suspect within a couple of years he will be breaking through at his parent club.
