Ipswich Town v Bristol Rovers injury news as five ruled out and three doubts
Latest injury news ahead of Ipswich Town v Bristol Rovers in the EFL Carabao Cup.
Ipswich Town will be without Christian Walton against Bristol Rovers after suffering a serious injury.
The 27-year-old suffered a foot injury, more specifically a tear to the plantar fascia in his foot on the eve of the new campaign. He is expected to be out for ‘quite a while’ according to his manager Kieran McKenna and that it will be months rather than weeks.
Václav Hladký played instead of him against Sunderland with Cieran Slicker as back-up goalkeeper, and the ex-Manchester City goalkeeper could get the nod, if the Tractor Boys consider a change.
Harry Clarke meanwhile is a doubt for the match. He served a one-game suspension against the Black Cats, but also sat out a few pre-season friendlies because of an Achilles injury. Nathan Broadhead and Massimo Lungo both started on Sunday meanwhile but were injury doubts going into the match and so a move to the substitutes bench may be likely.
As for Bristol Rovers, Josh Grant could be in contention to start, after making a substitute appearance against Portsmouth. He hadn’t played much in pre-season, but came on Saturday, and could be pushing for his first start in 15 months. Luke McCormick and James Gibbons have been described as not far off, but Wednesday is likely to come too soon for the pair. Jordan Rossiter is a long-term absentee, and no timeframe has been placed on his return. Summer signing George Friend meanwhile is also nursing an injury suffered in mid-July.
It has been suggested that a contract has been offered to pre-season trialist Teo Kurturan but as of yet, no deal has been confirmed. It is expected that Jerry Lawrence will depart the club on loan before the end of the window, along with Ryan Jones and Harvey Greenslade, but Wednesday is an opportunity for them to push for an opportunity.
