Lucas Giolito rumors

Free-agent reliever Joe Kelly and the Los Angeles Dodgers are “very close” to an agreement, according to sources familiar with the situation. All indications are that a deal will get done.

The 35-year-old Kelly finished up the 2023 season with the NL West Champion Dodgers after being traded from the Chicago White Sox.

All in all, he had a 2-5 record with a 4.12 ERA across the board. Still an elite strikeout artist, he punched out 60 batters in 39.1 total innings.

Lucas Giolito rumors

He’s pitched 12 years in the big leagues with the Cardinals, Red Sox, Dodgers and White Sox. He owns a 53-37 lifetime record and a 3.95 ERA. He’s won two World Series titles in his career.

In addition to Kelly, the Dodgers are looking at another former White Sox hurler: Lucas Giolito.

Per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times:

Lucas Giolito has emerged as one of the Dodgers’ targets, according to people with knowledge of the situation unauthorized to speak publicly. Jack Flaherty and Seth Lugo have also been linked with the team of late, while other veterans such as Michael Wacha and Marcus Stroman could also bolster the club’s pitching depth.

The 29-year-old Giolito is a California native who is coming off a dreadful year overall. Though he made 33 starts, he bounced around to three different teams (White Sox, Angels, Guardians) and posted an 8-15 record with a 4.88 ERA.

Some of his peripherals looked better though, as he struck out 204 batters in 184.1 innings.
