“WE HAVE TO WANT TO WIN AND CAUSE AN UPSET”
Danny Webb spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup first round clash with League One leaders Portsmouth.
He said: “Everyone is really looking forward to the game. It’s a different pressure to a league game and we can turn up with a little less anxiety, I guess, as the pressure is off us. We’re excited for it but we’ll be looking for the win, no doubt.
“No-one turn up to lose a football match and that definitely doesn’t start with us, we’re looking to win the game and test ourselves against the best team in League One.
“We’ve prepared exactly the same as any other game. We have to fancy our chances, .
“It’s not the end of the world if we don’t win but without doubt our mentality will be to turn up and give absolutely everything to win, simple as that.
“It’s the FA Cup, you can’t beat that feeling as beating a bigger club so let’s hope for that.”
Danny also touched on the importance of the fans during the game. “It’s going to be a big one for the fans,” he said.
“It’s a day for the fans, it’s so exciting for them. Let’s be honest, it’s going to be a sell-out if not close to it and that is incredible, we’ll certainly need the fans.
“We’re sure that the supporters will give absolutely everything off that pitch to help us on it.
“We feel that if we and the supporters turn up, as the supporters always do, we’ll give ourselves the best chance. We know what the supporters bring.”
Danny provide an update on the team news. He said: “It’s going to be very tough to pick that starting XI.
“We get nine substitutes, which is good. Everyone can be involved but picking that XI is going to be a very tough one.
“What’s great is this group of lads have seen that anyone can be left out and then come straight back in.
“Everyone wants to be involved, it’s one of those games you want to play in. Come kick-off on Sunday, we know that the XI we’ve picked will certainly be capable. We are looking healthy going into the game, the squad is strong and good.
“Joe [Quigley] is still out with his ankle and Tyrone [Williams] unfortunately will be a major doubt for Sunday too. It looks worse than it originally was against Kettering, which is a shame, but we have cover in that position.
“It’s a big blow for him but hopefully we’ll know more about that next week.”
