Leeds United handed number 10 option following Premier League club loan U-turn
Leeds United were linked with Facundo Buonanotte late last month
Leeds United-linked Facundo Buonanotte could be set for a deadline day move away from Brighton and Hove Albion today. The Whites were rumoured to be interested in Buonanotte last week as they plotted their route through the remainder of the transfer window.
But, the trail went cold as an injury to Julio Enciso saw the teenager’s status change within the senior Brighton squad. However, he looks set to fall down the pecking order at the Amex Stadium once more today as the Seagulls prepare to welcome Barcelona forward Ansu Fati on loan.
Fati’s arrival could lead to a deadline day loan for the Argentine, then, according to Sussex Express, and that might just pique Leeds’ interest, who haven’t managed to add an attacking midfielder to their ranks just yet. The Whites have announced the signings of Djed Spence, Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara over the last couple of days to bolster their ranks and give Daniel Farke’s squad a more balanced feel.
But, they have obvious holes to fill at left-back and number 10 and the club are keeping their options open on deadline day as the 11pm deadline looms. Joel Piroe took on the attacking midfielder role last time out at Ipswich Town and looked the part, bagging his first goal for the club, as he supported the lively Georginio Rutter.
The Dutchman is undoubtedly most comfortable leading the line, though, and with Leeds without a specialist option in the hole, it seems that is one of the issues they could look to address. Buonanotte is still just 18-years-old and if Leeds were to push for more arrivals today, he might just fit the bill, as he showed with a number of bright performances under Roberto De Zerbi in the Premier League last time around.
