Six free agents Leeds United could still sign including vastly experienced 56-goal Championship scorer

Leeds United can still add players to their squad through the free agency market

As is always the case each summer, the closure of the transfer window doesn’t mean that has to be the end of any business Leeds United do as the club look to rebuild the squad under Daniel Farke. While football clubs can no longer sign any players from fellow clubs across the continent, you can still sign players who are no longer under contract anywhere.

And just like recent years, there are some talented and high profile players out there without a deal looking to find a new club. Many will be out of Leeds’ reach simply because of the wage demands that they may carry, even though they don’t have a club to play at, but there are some who would fit the bill perfectly.

We’ve taken a look at some of the players who are up for grabs currently, even adding a few who may be out of reach but are worth noting anyway.

Andre Gray

Leeds have already added strike power in a proven Championship goalscorer by signing Joel Piroe, but how about further firepower in the form of former Watford striker Andre Gray. Now aged 32, Gray is out of contract after terminating his deal at Aris Thessaloniki by mutual consent.

Another player with the sort of experience and goalscoring record that will attract attention is former Rangers star Morelos. The 27-year-old looked set to join Fenerbahce before the window close, but that deal failed to materialise. Morelos scored 124 times for the Glasgow giants.

Jesse Lingard
