The Ghanaian international featured for Sporting in the Champions League last season, starting the 2-0 loss against Marseille and coming on as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. He was also a late substitute for the 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Europa League.

Sporting are said to value the teenager at £12million, which may be the sort of price that is included as an option in any potential deal. He arrived in Portugal from Ghanian side Steadfast FC in 2022, amid interest from Premier League sides.

Fatawu Issahaku was part of the Ghana squad for the World Cup, along with former City man Daniel Amartey. The winger made a cameo appearance in the nation’s final group game of the tournament against Uruguay.

He is not the only right winger to be linked with City ahead of the final days of the transfer window. Reports in Turkey suggest that a deal for Yunus Akgun is close, while City have also been credited with an interest in Crystal Palace man Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
