Leicester City confirm exit just seven months after transfer
The Danish left-back has joined Bologna on a season-long loan in a switch that could be made permanent if the Serie A side wish take up a £13m option in his deal
Victor Kristiansen’s loan move to Bologna has been confirmed with the left-back leaving Leicester City just seven months after arriving.
Kristiansen is one of the players that has been pushed to the fringes since Enzo Maresca’s arrival as manager, with the Dane not suited to the new boss’s system. Interest from Italy emerged earlier this month and a loan move to Serie A has now been confirmed.
Reports in Denmark say Bologna will pay €1m (£860k) for the season-long loan, with an optional transfer clause written into the deal at €15m (£12.9m) should the Italian side want to keep Kristiansen.
Arriving from FC Copenhagen in January in a deal worth up to £17m, Kristiansen established himself as Brendan Rodgers’ first-choice left-back. But when Dean Smith came in, Kristiansen’s game-time dwindled immediately, with Luke Thomas preferred.
While Kristiansen expressed his intent to stick with City and try to get them promoted from the Championship, Maresca’s arrival changed his plans, with no room for traditional full-backs in the side.
