Leicester City transfer twist as Swansea City make Joel Piroe decision

Latest Leicester City transfer news as Swansea City make a decision about the future of striker and City target Joel Piroe, who is also wanted by Leeds United and Southampton

Leicester City transfer target Joel Piroe is set to stay at Swansea City this summer.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with Leicester in the current transfer window, with Leeds United, Southampton and Atalanta also said to be interested in the Dutchman.

According to our colleagues at WalesOnline, Piroe is “expected to stay” at Swansea, with their £15million valuation of the striker considered a sticking point for any potential suitors.

It is said that Piroe’s representatives are “unhappy at Swansea’s proposals on how to structure a potential deal”, which could involve a dispute over agents’ fees.

Swansea could yet accept a bid for Piroe, but it is unlikely to progress if they do not appease those who represent the striker. Piroe has a year left on his contract, and has made it clear he will not sign an extension in south Wales

Commenting on Piroe’s future this weekend, Swansea boss Michael Duff said: “I anticipate interest because he’s a good player. We’ve not had a bid for him so until the club gets a bid for him, we have to crack on like he’s here.

“I’m sure he’s got aspirations to play as high as he can. His attitude has been first class. If the club accepts an offer, the club accepts an offer, we’ll move on.”

Swansea now risk losing Piroe on a free transfer next summer. He has scored more than 40 goals over the last two seasons in the Championship
