Liam Rosenior provides Hull City injury update as Tigers prepare for Blackburn Rovers

The Tigers are in action at Ewood Park this weekend in their second away outing of the season

Liam Rosenior hopes to have both Harry Vaughan and Ruben Vinagre back in training on Tuesday morning as Hull City prepare for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers.

Vaughan and Vinagre missed Saturday’s thumping 4-2 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at the MKM Stadium through injury. But it’s hoped the pair will be available for the visit to Ewood Park this weekend after being time to recover from minor issues.

City romped to a convincing victory to bag their first points of the season delivering a terrific performance in front of their own supporters, and in the absence of the duo, Jason Lokilo made his home league debut on the left side of midfield with Jacob Greaves shuffling across to left-back.

That’s almost certainly how Rosenior will line up in Lancashire, should he opt against risking the duo, who have been nursing thigh (Vinagre) and ankle (Vaughan) problems respectively.

Vaughan will be especially keen to recover for the Ewood Park clash, given it’s likely to hold special memories for the 19-year-old who was thrust into the limelight back in April when Rosenior handed him his Championship debut.

Rosenior will still be without Allahyar Sayyadmanesh who is recovering from a calf problem, while Greg Docherty continues his rehab following the knee injury he sustained in the second pre-season friendly against Hatayspor in Bursa and Dogukan Sinik.

It had been hoped Sinik would be back in full training after recovering from the shoulder issue he picked up in the latter stages of last season, but the Turkish international has suffered a minor setback which had delayed his return.

Meanwhile, Callum Jones has suffered an injury setback while on loan at League Two side Forest Green Rovers. The midfielder left the New Lawn on crutches following Saturday’s game with Harrogate Town, having landed awkwardly.

“Unfortunately Cal has suffered a significant injury. He’s got a hairline fracture in his leg after landing awkwardly.” head coach David Horseman explained. “It was a bit of a freak one under no contact. He’s a super player, but he’s also a brilliant character, so it’s a blow.”
