Liam Rosenior reveals Hull City transfer deadline day wish as Tigers target final deals
The Tigers are expecting a busy final 24 hours of the window
Hull City hope to complete three signings before the end of the transfer window, according to boss Liam Rosenior.
City are working hard to complete a deal for Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene and expect that to be ratified before the 11pm deadline on Friday evening.
The Tigers are also in the market for a midfielder and another winger, but one player who won’t be joining them is striker Keinan Davis after he opted to move to Italian Serie A side Udinese, despite City working hard to secure his services.
Rosenior has been keen to add to his wide options throughout the winger and the capture of Philogene will be a significant coup, once the deal has been signed off by the authorities.

The Tigers boss also expects outgoings and Hull Live believes Ryan Longman is emerging as a target for Millwall, while other exits have not been ruled out as he looks to trim his squad.
“It’s dragging on, but all the reports I’m getting are that it will be done before the end of the window, but that’s all I can say. I’m waiting,” Rosenior told Hull Live when asked where things were at with Philogene and Aston Villa.
Rosenior says the club tried everything to lure Davis to the MKM Stadium, but the temptation of playing in Serie A with a lucrative deal at Udinese won the day.
“I know we were in a really good position with Keinan, but he decided it would be better for his career for him to go to Italy and I wish him all the best,” he said.
“I don’t like it when things come out in the press because I’ve got a squad that I love. I love Oscar, I love Allahyar, and I love the players already in here. To be honest, Keinan was somebody we were interested in, he’s decided to go elsewhere.
“Is that going to be the big difference in our season? No, so we move on and we keep pushing to get the best possible squad we can.”
When asked what he expects between now and 11pm on Friday evening, Rosenior made it clear three was the minimum he wanted.
“Minimum three players, and yes, I think that is realistic,” continued the City boss. “It has to be close because we’ve got, what, 24 hours left? At the moment we’re working really, really hard, and I’m confident that we’ll have a really strong squad at the end of the window.
“In every area (where he still wants to strengthen), I’ve said that all along, if something comes up in any of the pitch, and we say, ‘do you know what, that improves us as a squad’ then that’s my job to improve the squad.
“I felt in the case of Keinan, he was someone who would fit in to the way that we play and would have improved our squad in different ways, it didn’t work, no problem, we move on. I’m really happy with Liam Delap, Aaron Connolly and Oscar as my front players.”
Interest in Longman isn’t the only potential exit over the next few hours, with City also trying to line up loan deals for a host of first-team fringe players, including goalkeepers Thimothee Lo-Tutala and David Robson, following the arrival of Ryan Allsop.
“There’s interest, and by the time this comes out, I think there will be a few more things happening, hopefully,” he said. “There’s a few players in the building that need to go and play football because that’s what they love to do.
“I can only have a squad so big so we’re working really hard to help those players get the best options possible for them.”
While Rosenior will be pleased when the window finally shuts, he admits until he knows what personnel he has at his disposal, there could still be one more unsettling night to navigate.
“It depends on what kind of squad we’ve got. I want a top squad, sometimes you get offers in on those players you don’t want offers in on, so I’ve still got a sleepless night ahead.”
