Liam Rosenior’s emotional speech to Hull City squad after statement Leicester City win

The Tigers earned their first win at Leicester since 2008

Liam Rosenior delivered a rousing post-match team talk to his Hull City players after their terrific 1-0 win at title favourites Leicester City on Saturday before sending them off for a well-earned break.

The Tigers shocked the Foxes with a deserved success at the King Power Stadium courtesy of Liam Delap’s fizzing effort after just 15 minutes.

Though the Foxes enjoyed more possession – and pressure – City were rarely troubled and were good value for a victory that leaves them sitting sixth in the Championship table after five games of the relentless Championship marathon.

Speaking to his players inside the King Power away dressing room and captured by the Tigers+ cameras, Rosenior hailed the result, and performance, as his proudest moment since taking charge in early November last year.

Their impressive showing in the East Midlands sees the Tigers go into the international break in good heart, with their sole league defeat so far coming in controversial circumstances at Norwich City on opening day, winning at Blackburn and beating Sheffield Wednesday convincingly, with their only draw coming at home to Bristol City.

“That’s my proudest day as a manager by far. It was everything. In terms of bravery to play from the back, in terms of putting your body on the line, in terms of belief and effort and courage and fitness, it was everything I could ever ask for, everything, honestly, I’m emotional,” he said. “You cannot get carried away. We’re five games in and we’ve got 10 points. We have to get to a place where we expect days like this for the rest of the season.

“This has to become, for us, the norm. Go away and enjoy your time. Whether you’re on internationals, look after yourselves, get back fit ready for us to go again. If there’s one day in a season, one day that will tell us what we’re capable of, it was today. I’m proud of every single person in this room, go and enjoy your week off.”

City return to action on Friday week when Rosenior’s in-form side host another of those expected to challenge for a place in the top six, Coventry City.
