Luton Town – Maybe There’ll Be A Surprise Departure Before The Transfer Window Slams Shut

Tuning in to various social media sites, it is becoming noticeable that the name of our Scottish midfielder, Allan Campbell, is starting to trend.

Many posters are wondering why the midfielder is struggling for game time this season and under Rob Edwards, in general.

Last month, here at Vital Luton Town, I ran an article questioning the future of the Scotsman at our club – the-big-allan-campbell-question.

This morning, a comment from Geo, popped up in my editorial inbox, with Geo remarking:

“I have watched Alan Campbell since he first emerged at Motherwell as a teenager. He starred as player of the tournament for Scotland in the Toulon international tournament against the cream of world youth football.”

“He progressed steadily through experiences in first team at Motherwell, and most fans thought that he was destined for much higher things. No surprise that he impressed in his first season at Luton, but why so little game time recently.”

“If LTFC have 4 midfielders that are better than Alan, then you are a very lucky team. Hope you improve as the season progresses.”

“PS We would have him back in the blink of an eye.”

Which has got me thinking!

With Rob Edwards having invested heavily this summer, clearly in order to boost our chances of survival in the Premier League, which, in itself, would be a monumental achievement, could Campbell be a victim of this influx and find himself on the move before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month?

If Campbell were to be sold, I’d be hugely disappointed. I’ve always felt his energy and enthusiasm rubbed off on the rest of the team and the manner in which he closes down the opposition was a crucial part of our game.

We can only wait and see.
