LUTON’S MATCH AT ASTON VILLA PUSHED BACK DUE TO HOME SIDE’S EURO SCHEDULE
Luton Town’s trip to Aston Villa in late October has been pushed back to the home side’s European commitments.
The Hatters had been scheduled to make the trip to Villa Park on Saturday October 28th, with the game not originally selected for live TV broadcast.
However, Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League commitments means they will be in action on Thursday October 26th.
As a result, the game has been pushed back by 24 hours, with Luton’s game at Villa Park now taking place on Sunday October 29th instead. The match will take place as a 2pm kick-off, though it will not be broadcast on live TV in the UK.
In a statement, Luton Town said, “We apologise to any supporters inconvenienced by this fixture amendment.”
Villa will be travelling to the Netherlands in the week leading up to their game against Luton, with Unai Emery’s side playing AZ Alkmaar on the Thursday leading up to that week.
After finishing 7th in last season’s Premier League, Aston Villa qualified for the Europa Conference League, and a draw made last week paired the Birmingham-based club with AZ, Poland’s Legia Warsaw and Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.
The game will be Luton’s first meeting with Aston Villa since the two sides met in the First Round of the EFL Cup in 2016, though it will be the Hatters’ first trip to Villa Park since going there in the Second Round of the EFL Cup all the way back in 2002.
