Major VAR decisions to be explained as Aston Villa and Wolves look on after controversies

The latest Aston Villa and Wolves news as the 26-minute show will be aired on both Sky Sports and TNT Sports on Wednesday night.

Aston Villa and Wolves fans will have the chance to hear the discussion between VAR officials and the referee from some of the biggest decisions in the Premier League so far this season.

As reported by ESPN , a show named ‘Match Officials: Mic’d Up’ will air on Wednesday night and will see referee chief Howard Webb going through some of the incidents from this season and explaining the thinking behind the decision. The conversation between the referee and official in Stockley Park will also be heard.

The show will be available to international rights holders before being shown at 8pm on Wednesday night on Sky Sports and 8.30pm on TNT Sports. It comes after a similar show was trialled back in May.

The 26 minute show features former Premier League striker turned pundit Michael Owen and will look back on some of the biggest incidents of the season. Although what incidents will be featured has not been confirmed.

One of the biggest talking points so far this season was the decision not to award Wolves a penalty when Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana appeared to foul striker Sasa Kalajdzic in the closing minutes of the 1-0 defeat against the Red Devils on the opening weekend of the season. There was also some controversy in Villa’s 3-0 loss against Liverpool this weekend when a VAR check concluded that Mohamed Salah was not offside for Dominik Szoboszlai’s opening goal.

If the show will be a regular thing throughout the season is still to be seen. But Webb has committed to sharing the VAR audio on a monthly basis this season, in order to give fans more of an insight into how decisions are made.
