MANCHESTER UNITED ATTACKER JONES JOINS BRISTOL CITY

Manchester United attacker Carrie Jones has completed a permanent move to newly-promoted Bristol City.

The Robins announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this morning.

Jones has spent the last three years with Manchester United. She has struggled for game time with The Red Devils and spent last season on loan at Leicester City. Jones scored two goals in 19 Barclays Women’s Super League outings for The Foxes, helping them to retain their top tier status for another season.

The 20-year-old will now be hoping to help new club Bristol City to successfully transition into the Barclays Women’s Super League.

After joining The Robins, Jones said “I’m really happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started. It’s exciting to be part of a team that’s been newly-promoted, so it’s a privilege to have signed.

“I’ve worked with Lauren [Smith] previously when I was at Cardiff, so having the chance to play for her again is a really exciting opportunity. I’m really grateful to know the Head Coach already because when you walk into a new team and a new environment, it’s very refreshing to have a friendly face.

“I’m very lucky to know a few of the girls too having played alongside Ffion [Morgan], Ella [Powell] and Liv [Clark] with Wales and they’ve been really lovely and welcomed me into the group.”
