Analyst Notes A Potential Problem For The Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have the best record in the NFL at 8-1, and there is a growing feeling they could be the best team in all of football right now.
They’re coming off a 28-23 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and wide receiver A.J. Brown is having an outstanding season, while quarterback Jalen Hurts may be the leading MVP candidate outside of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes.
However, Philly certainly isn’t a perfect team, and there are a couple of concerns pundits have about them moving forward.
One is passing defense — they rank near the bottom of the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns allowed this season.
But Marcus Spears said on ESPN’s “NFL Live” that he is concerned about the Eagles’ inability to protect the ball.
Philly has 13 turnovers so far this season, and Hurts is responsible for all but one of them — eight through interceptions and four on fumbles.
Spears noted that turning over the football is “the quickest way to lose a championship or in a playoff game.”
The Eagles made it to the Super Bowl last season, but early in the second quarter of the big game, Hurts fumbled the ball, and it was recovered by the Chiefs’ Nick Bolton for a touchdown that tied the game.
One mistake like that can single-handedly cost a team a game, especially a game of such great magnitude.
Next week, after Philly has their bye, they will travel to the Midwest for a Super Bowl rematch against those same Chiefs.
