Medical scheduled as winner named in Everton and Nottingham Forest race to sign Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga

Medical scheduled as winner named in Everton

Everton have lost the transfer battle to Nottingham Forest to secure the services of Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga, per the Daily Mail.

The British newspaper shared an article on its website [21 July] claiming that he will be moving to Forest with a medical scheduled in the coming days.

The 21-year-old Sweden international will join Steve Cooper’s side for a £15million fee with his permanent exit from Manchester United set in stone.

The Toffees may have wanted Elanga but his performances in recent months left many United fans unimpressed.

The fact that Erik ten Hag is sanctioning his sale suggests that he’s not at the level of his first team and is unlikely to progress in the coming years.

His decision making in front of goal is still suspect and he cannot be a goal-scoring or chance-creating threat so signing him would’ve been pointless.

Everton already have a cash crunch this summer and shelling out money on him would’ve been pointless, to say the least.

They’re better off focusing on other targets and Arnaut Danjuma is miles better than Elanga despite him struggling on loan at Spurs.

He’s someone the club’s wanted since January and with his arrival, the left wing issue is sorted so there’s no need for a player like Elanga anyway.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
