Edmond Tapsoba was among the defenders tentatively linked to St James’ Park, with the Burkina Faso international reportedly earning attention from Premier League clubs. The 24-year-old was said to be interesting the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, but has seemingly committed his future to current club Bayer Leverkusen.

News broke on Monday that Tapsoba has extended his deal with the Bundesliga club until 2028. Reflecting on the announcement, the defender told the club’s website: “The support from the fans for the team is fantastic, our squad gets better year by year and I’m absolutely convinced I have the best conditions at Bayer 04 for a successful future.”

Joe White is keen to hit the ground running after joining Crewe Alexandra on loan until January. The young playmaker has previously enjoyed loan stints at Exeter City and Hartlepool United, and is determined to make an impact in the final third

White told the club’s website: “I want to play as much as possible and score and create goals for the team. I’ve had loan experiences already and I quickly made my mind up on this being the right move.
