Reports in Spain also claim Newcastle turned down a £100m approach from Liverpool towards the end of the window. Romano tweeted: “Newcastle make significant progress in negotiations to extend Bruno Guimarães contract, agreement now on the verge of being completed.

Liverpool’s ‘£100m bid’ for Bruno Guimaraes ‘rejected’ by Newcastle United

Newcastle United reportedly turned down a £100m offer from Liverpool for Bruno Guimaraes. That’s according to Spanish media outlet AS, who claims Jurgen Klopp’s side launched a late bid for the Brazilian to refresh their midfield.

The Brazilian has been a standout performer since arriving at St. James’ Park, attracting interest from Real Madrid and Man City, but hasn’t quite hit the same highs so far this season. The report says: “Liverpool tried to acquire the services of Bruno Guimarães, one of the sensations of the Premier League last season, in the last days of the market .

“For the former Lyon player, considered one of the best players in the English championship, the ‘Red’ team would come to offer a whopping 100 million pounds (more than 116 million euros in exchange) , meeting with a resounding ‘no’ for part of Newcastle .”
