No lose for West Ham as reliable journalist delivers big update on Fulham midfielder situation

It looks to be a no lose situation for West Ham as a reliable journalist delivers a big update on Fulham midfielder situation.

As Declan Rice edges ever closer to leaving West Ham and with new technical director Tim Steidten on board, eyes are turning to who will replace him.

With Manuel Lanzini also being released, West Ham boss David Moyes faces a sizeable rebuild in midfield.

It was reported recently that ‘work has been going on behind the scenes’ as he bids to do just that.

West Ham are said to have identified Fulham and Portugal defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha as their prime target to replace the skipper.

But the Hammers have also been linked with Valencia and USA star Yunus Musah.

The Spanish side are said to be desperate to sell due to FFP concerns and reports have claimed Musah is open to a move to West Ham.

There has been a development in that situation, though, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

It’s no lose for West Ham as the reliable journalist delivers a big update on the Fulham midfielder situation.

Fulham ‘all over’ deal claim insiders

Writing on is Patreon site, Nixon claims Fulham have launched a £20m bid for Musah and are ‘all over’ a move for the all-action midfielder.

On the face of it, Fulham making the first move for alleged West Ham target Musah might be bad news.

Hammers fans are excited at the prospect of bringing the former Arsenal youth star in as Rice’s replacement.

Particularly after he shone against the West Ham talisman for the US at the World Cup.

But if West Ham do miss out to Fulham for Musah, then it could be good news for West Ham.

Win-win for Moyes after update on Fulham midfield situation

Because it would suggest that the Cottagers are gearing up to sell Moyes target Palhinha following encouraging claims of late.

With the excellent Harrison Reed, Sasa Lukic, Andreas Pereira and Tom Cairney already competing for one or two spots in central midfield alongside Palhinha, there is no way Fulham can add another player to that mix with no European football.

And they have also beem heavily linked with another West Ham target James Ward-Prowse.

If Musah prefers a move to Craven Cottage over the London Stadium that suggests he has been offered assurances he will be a guaranteed starter, something Moyes is always reluctant to do – just ask Amadou Onana.

Reports emerged recently claiming West Ham have held talks with Fulham to sign Palhinha for around £50m.
