Nottingham Forest still want £120,000-a-week Chelsea player but Everton have pulled out
Nottingham Forest are still interested in signing Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, but fellow Premier League sides Fulham and Everton have pulled out of the race.
Hudson-Odoi is free to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Blues asking for a fee in the region of £8 million for the 22-year-old.
Christopher Beesley has confirmed that Sean Dyche’s side aren’t interested in signing the winger, who is willing to take a substantial reduction of his £120,000-a-week wage in order to find a new club.
Steve Cooper’s side are still looking for reinforcements before the closure of the transfer window, with Hudson-Odoi still on the Reds’ shopping list.
With Maurizio Pochettino’s side looking to sign Brennan Johnson, Hudson-Odoi could be used in a player plus cash deal that could potentially sweeten the deal for the Reds.
Callum Hudson-Odoi to Nottingham Forest?
The promising youngster burst onto the scene back in 2018, going on to make 126 appearances for the Blues, in which he scored 16 times, providing 22 assists.
Hudson-Odoi was subject to a £70 million bid from German giants Bayern Munich in 2020, with Chelsea holding firm and rejecting the offer, before the winger had an unfortunate spell on the sidelines through injury.
Now aged 22, he needs to go to a club where he can rediscover himself.
Last season he was on loan at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, but due to injuries, he only managed just 21 appearances, scoring one goal.
Hudson-Odoi is no stranger to Reds head coach Steve Cooper, as he was part of the England Under-17 team that won the World Cup back in 2017, with Cooper potentially being the perfect man to reignite his career.
A move for the winger could hinge on whether Brennan Johnson leaves the club.
The club will definitely need a new wideman should Johnson leave this summer, and given Cooper’s long-standing relationship with the player, perhaps a move to Forest would be perfect for Hudson-Odoi.
