Nottingham Forest striker makes Evangelos Marinakis admission in ‘bigger and better’ claim
Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Reds striker Chris Wood has his say on club owner Evangelos Marinakis
Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has hailed club owner Evangelos Marinakis for “putting his money where his mouth is.”
The Greek businessman has been the owner of Forest since 2017 and oversaw the club’s return to the Premier League last year for the first time in 23 years. Steve Cooper’s side are enjoying their second successive campaign in the top flight after avoiding relegation in 2022/23.
Marinakis has invested heavily in the club since he arrived with the Reds spending over £200 million on transfer fees since their promotion to English football’s top flight.
And Wood has heaped praise on the Reds owner for the work he has done at the City Ground so far. He believes that the club is set for an exciting future under Marinakis’ ownership.
He’s put his money where his mouth is,” Wood told BBC 5 Live.
“In that sense, he’s backed the club, he’s backed the team, and he’s backed the infrastructure of Nottingham, as well as and looking at the stadium, looking at the training ground to improve all around us he’s definitely done it in the right way
“So far, he’s put his money into the company, which has been fantastic, and it’s it’s helped us as a team on the pitch. The club can only get better and bigger and move up the league and we know how high his ambition is to be a top-flight Premier League team but who knows where it could take us?”
