Report: Out on loan man now ‘nailed on’ for Elland Road return if Leeds are promoted
Jack Harrison is ‘nailed on’ for a return to Leeds United if they are promoted this season.
That is according to Leeds Live, who report Harrison will come back to the club from his loan at Everton if Leeds can get back to the Premier League thanks to his ‘mammoth contract’.
Harrison was one of eight members of last season’s first team squad at Leeds to secure a loan move away from Elland Road in the wake of the club’s relegation to the Championship in May.
The 26-year-old brought his five-year long stint with the Whites to an end by joining Everton in the summer, who triggered the loan clause in his contract last month after tracking him all summer.
The deal is not thought to include any sort of purchase option at the end of the season, though as per the Athletic, Everton will push to make it permanent in ‘due course’.
Harrison ‘nailed on’ for Leeds return if they are promoted
Harrison is likely to find himself in another Premier League relegation battle once he returns from injury if Everton’s start is anything to go by.
Everton have picked up just one point from their opening four matches, a run which has included favourable fixtures against Fulham, Wolves and Sheffield United.
Much of Harrison’s future is likely to dependent on what happens with both clubs this season as Everton will not be able to buy him permanently if they are relegated.
Everton may have to decide in January whether or not to pursue a permanent deal for him as if Leeds are promoted, their desire to sell in the summer will diminish greatly given he is under contract until 2028.
Whether or not Harrison is welcomed back at Leeds after his loan remains to be seen, but that is a bridge that can be crossed when it comes to it.
