Leeds United transfer news as Celtic target Michail Antonio packs bags at West Ham
Leeds United and Celtic could be handed a transfer boost in their pursuit of West Ham striker Michail Antonion, according to Alan Brazil.
The talkSPORT host said on Thursday (17 August) that he’s been told the Jamaica international has already packed his bags at the London Stadium.
The Daily Record carry Brazil’s quotes and claim that Leeds and Celtic have been namechecked as suitors for the 33-year-old
He said, “I’m told he’s off. He’s off. I’m told someone has helped pack him and he’s on his way.”
Surely not Leeds?
Antonio may be a decent utility player who’s had a few moments of brilliance in the past but he cannot be the one to address the club’s attacking woes.
Leeds have struggled in the final third this season and last season as well but that time they at least had someone clinical like Rodrigo.
Now that the Spaniard has left for the Middle East and Patrick Bamford is still battling his injury woes, Joe Gelhardt has been tasked to lead the line.
As he showed against Birmingham it’s not really an easy job for him and he’s struggled a great deal in the final third for the Whites.
A senior striker is needed but Antonio should not be the option and they should instead look at Championship strikers who’ve proven themselves in the league.
It remains to be seen who eventually ends up walking through the door at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, the club could look to rekindle their interest in a Golden Boot winner who Daniel Farke will love and it will take £15million to get the deal done.
