Player’s Leeds exit is ‘on standby’ – Whites have ‘forfeited request’, compromise is being sought
Last week, Cronache Salerno stated Leeds United’s Leo Hjelde continues to be a target for Salernitana sporting director Morgan De Sanctis.
On Wednesday, we covered claims from Italy that the next few days are decisive for the Serie A side to sign the left-back on a loan deal with an option to buy.
La Città di Salerno have a report explaining the Italian club’s plans for the remaining days of this window and the Leeds player gets a mention.
It’s claimed both the 19-year-old and De Sanctis are ‘waiting’ for the deal to go ahead.
The report adds the operation is currently ‘on standby’ after Daniel Farke’s side ‘forfeited the loan request’, which had a right to buy set at €1.5m.
Tutto Salernitana director Luca Esposito has also talked about Salernitana’s desire to sign the Norway U19 international, this time on TMW Radio.
He claims the Serie A side are searching for a backup for Domagoj Bradarić and the ‘focus’ is on the Whites defender. Esposito further adds Hjelde ‘costs a lot’ but a compromise is being sought with Leeds.
