Preston North End chasing La Liga striker but face Stoke City battle

It’s time for yet another surprise transfer rumour with Preston North End allegedly interested in signing Cadiz forward Milutin Osmajic.

PNE’s dip into the European market for Mads Frøkjær-Jensen may have just sparked a new wave of rumours surrounding potential imports.

We’ve had links to Ryan Mmaee before his move to Stoke City and we explained last just week just why links to Ecuadorian defender Felix Torres were wide of the mark.

The new name in the mix is Cadiz striker Milutin Osmajic.

Spanish website El Desmarque claim that PNE are interested in bringing Osmajic to Deepdale before the transfer deadline.

The report adds that Stoke City, Hellas Verona and CSKA Moscow are also keen to snap up Osmajic in the coming days.

It’s claimed that Osmajic is not needed at Cadiz and a departure is now on the cards with suitors seemingly lining up to sign him.

PNE may well be moving on from Everton striker Tom Cannon now and Osmajic may emerge as a key target ahead of deadline day.

Who is Preston North End target Milutin Osmajic?

Osmajic hails from Podgorica, the capital city of Montenegro, and he started out with Montenegrin side Sutjeska Niksic.

Cadiz spotted his potential and lured him to Spain in 2021, handing him a three-year deal.

Osmajic has only played 14 times for the Cadiz first team though, scoring just once.

The 24-year-old spent the first half of 2022 on loan with Turkish second-tier side Bandirmaspor, smashing seven goals in just 13 games.

Portuguese side Vizela became Osmajic’s next stop, and he had a decent record of eight in 35 games in Portugal’s top flight.

Now back with Cadiz, Osmajic has played just four minutes this season as he came off the bench against Barcelona last weekend.

Osmajic was an unused substitute against Almeria on Saturday night and he may well be on the move this week.

A 6ft 1in attacker, Osmajic has picked up 14 caps for Montenegro and a work permit shouldn’t be a problem.

This would be a somewhat left-field move for PNE but with Cannon hopes fading, Osmajic may be seen as the next target to try and bring some pace to the North End attack.
