Film review: Rookie Elerson Smith yet to make an impact - Big Blue View

Raiders Make Two More Practice Squad Moves

The Las Vegas Raiders made a couple more practice squad transactions this week as they prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The club announced Wednesday that it signed linebacker Elerson Smith to the practice squad while correspondingly waiving linebacker Jaylon Smith. Elerson Smith has two years of NFL experience but has not seen action in a regular-season game. The New York Giants drafted the 25-year-old linebacker in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He would play 13 games for the Giants- eight in his rookie season and five in his last season.

The veteran linebacker was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He would play for the Cowboys for four-plus seasons and was selected to his first and only Pro Bowl while with Dallas. Jaylon Smith then had a two-game stint with the Green Bay Packers before joining the Giants in December of 2021. So far, the seven-year NFL linebacker has totaled 626 combined tackles, 24 for losses, 11 sacks, 21 passes defensed, two interceptions and a fumble returned for a touchdown.

The Raiders’ two roster moves on Wednesday come just a day after they returned fullback Jakob Johnson and released tight end Jesse James. The Silver and Black will return home next week to celebrate Thanksgiving and take on their AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday, Nov. 26, at 4:25 p.m. EST/1:25 p.m. PST.
