Danny Webb, the manager of Chesterfield Spireites, was thrilled for Armando Dobra after his first goal of the season gave Chesterfield a 1-0 victory at Ebbsfleet United. “Ronaldo status” – weight taken off Armando Dobra’s shoulders
Dobra led the Blues in scoring last year, but up until the weekend, he had gone eight games without scoring.
He scored in the 82nd minute to give Town their fourth straight victory and put them atop the league.
In his first full season of men’s football, Webb said, “It is challenging when you get such a name for yourself because everyone believes he is going to jump to Ronaldo status suddenly and it doesn’t quite work like that.
He puts in a lot of effort, has displayed some impressive skills, and just because he hasn’t been scoring goals every week doesn’t mean he hasn’t been helping the club.
We observed his work ethic and tackling today, and because he is aggressive, I even had him mark from corners.
“I’m thrilled that he scored. You can understand what he means to the supporters. He obviously enjoys his time here and the club, in my opinion.
James Berry, who once more came off the bench to have an impact, helped Dobra score the winning goal.
Since joining from Macclesfield, Berry has only started one out of seven games, but with Michael Jacobs now sidelined after getting sent off on Saturday, he might get his chance against Halifax on Tuesday.
Webb continued, “He is still learning. There were tactical issues at the end that we need to work on with him, such as losing possession and regaining form when we are up against it.
“Long may that continue when you are coming in and assisting us in winning games
.
Michael Jacobs is now on suspension, thus someone else will undoubtedly take his or her place (against Halifax).
