Saudi Arabian club join Barcelona in race for Aston Villa linked forward

Latest Aston Villa transfer news as Al Hilal join the race for Joao Felix as Barcelona continue to hold an advantage

Reported Aston Villa transfer target Joao Felix is the latest player to have received a lucrative offer from a club in Saudi Arabia.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Villa this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Newcastle United. Just three weeks ago, Unai Emery was said to be “leading the race” for the ex-Chelsea loanee, though speculation has now cooled.

That could be because Felix has now received an approach from Saudi club Al Hilal, with a decision now in the player’s court ahead of a potential move. That’s according to transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, who has outlined the situation and explained what the priority is for Felix.

Romano tweeted: “Al Hilal approached João Félix. Saudi side prepared to offer even 1 year loan; player decides. Understand Jorge Jesus called João several times. Player’s priority remains Barcelona and Europe

“…but Al Hilal becomes option as one thing is sure: he will NOT stay at Atléti.”

Last month, the player revealed his desire to play for Barcelona, telling Romano: “I’d love to play for Barca. Barcelona has always been my first choice and I’d love to join Barca.
