JAYDEN Fevrier says signing a new contract extension with Colchester United is a ‘proud’ moment for him.

Fevrier has impressed for Colchester under Ben Garner and has started five of their six league and cup matches so far, this season.

The former West Ham United youngster says he was delighted to commit his future to the U’s.
Fevrier said: “It’s a proud day for me and I’ve worked for this moment since I joined Colchester.
“I’m really proud and thankful to God and my family and the gaffer for giving me these opportunities and it’s now it’s time to kick on and solidify my place.
“I love football and I’m going to do everything that I can to play.
“I feel like I’m an exciting player and I try to make an impact so I try and perform and make an impact in every game.”
Fevrier has impressed in a wing-back role for Colchester, this season.
He has predominantly played as a winger in his early career but says he is enjoying the extra responsibility the role brings.

“I’ve enjoyed playing as a wing-back a lot, as I get to isolate myself one v one with defenders and I think that’s probably one of the strongest parts of my game,” said Fevrier, who joined Colchester in December, 2022.
“I understand the role a lot better this season.
“I’m a lot fitter so I’m able to the role and my defending has improved.
“I’m enjoying playing going forward and back.
“There’s only one person on that side; if you’re playing with a winger and full-back, there’s two so it’s almost twice the running.
“But I like the challenge because it’s you versus your opponent and it’s a 1v1 battle, so it’s just about getting physically and mentally ahead of your opponent and winning the battle and duel that comes.
“The Cardiff game was probably the stamp for the way I play.
“I prefer playing on the right-hand side of the pitch and creating and I can go inside or outside.
“I really enjoyed that game against Championship opposition, so it was a good challenge.”

Fevrier was last week reunited with one of his former West Ham academy team-mates, following Jay Mingi’s arrival on a free transfer.
“I’ve known Jay since I was eight years old,” said Fevrier, who has made 18 appearances for the U’s, to date.
“I came through with him in the academy at West Ham and it’s really nice to first of all have a friend come in but also a really good player who can impact the team, so that’s good.
“We’ve signed some really good players and it’s really exciting to see what they can bring to the team.
“I was saying the other day to one of the boys, it’s a whole new different squad and manager since I came here.
“But everyone is settling in very well and it’s a great club to be at.
“There’s a real family-type of culture here where people are close to each other.
“We’re getting better as a group and hopefully that shows on the pitch.”
Colchester host Tranmere Rovers this weekend, aiming to claim their first home win of the season.
Fevrier is aiming to help the U’s claim three points and perform well, in front of the club’s fans.
He added: “Every game in this league is massive for us, especially after the start that we’ve had and playing in front of the home fans, we want to get the win but also give them a performance that they and the club and be proud of and hopefully carry that on for the rest of the season.
“We’ve got a clear message from the gaffer with the way we want to play.
“It’s just about sticking with that and having a good mentality going into every game.
“As a team, we know what we’re capable of and now it’s just about showing it in every game.”
