Tom Davies relishing fresh start ahead of Crawley visit

Rovers captain Tom Davies believes the squad have the chance of a fresh start under Nigel Adkins, after a disappointing opening to the season.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Crawley Town on Saturday, the defender acknowledged the responsibility the players must take for the results but is relishing the opportunity to turn things around.

“You have empathy when someone loses their job. We saw day-to-day how hard [Ian Dawes] worked, and it didn’t work out unfortunately. We’ve got to move forward now.

“The lads on the pitch are the ones who have to go and win the games. It’s not been good enough. We burden that responsibility as well; we have to put that behind us now and come together.

“[Nigel Adkins] will talk to you on a personal level. He wants to know the person as well as the player. He’s set a few ground rules and gone back to basics.

“It’s a fresh start, there’s a chance to put things right. We’re only seven games so there’s still a chance to do something.”
