Wednesday are aiming to finally put some points on the board this weekend

Sheffield Wednesday squad revealed for Cardiff City clash with midfielder ruled out indefinitely

The Owls head to South Wales looking to get off the mark this season but will have to do so without midfield enforcer Momo Diaby who suffered an injury on his debut last week

Sheffield Wednesday are aiming for their first Championship win of the season, at the fourth attempt, when they make the long trek to face Cardiff City later today.

The Owls have lost all three league games so far and even at this early juncture there is pressure on new manager Xisco Munoz to bring to an end the losing streak. In terms of the squad of players he has at his disposal, the Spaniard suffered a blow when midfielder Momo Diaby limped out of last week’s game with Preston.

Up until his early exit he had been the stand-out performer on his debut. But Munoz has since confirmed the Frenchman won’t be available here – although he remained coy on discussing any timescales.

“We will see what happens,” said the Owls’ chief. “He (Momo) was injured last game and we will see how long he is out. I hope he comes back faster because he arrived and he gave us a very good performance in the last game. We will see.

Elsewhere, Marvin Johnson appears to remain frozen out whilst Ciaran Brennan is unlikely to feature given his injury lay-off. In an encouraging update skipper Barry Bannan appears to be getting over his recent ankle knock, confirming he is over the worst. He said: “I have had a scan which has shown to be good. No bad damage just a very minor niggle which I’m hoping will get better as the weeks go on.”
