Fulham 2022/23: Players to watch ahead of new Premier League season - My Football Facts

Tottenham handed boost in their pursuit of Tosin Adarabioyo

Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Tosin Adarabioyo, with the 25-year-old’s relationship now broken with Fulham.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham’s chances of signing Tosin Adarabioyo received a boost following reports of a broken relationship between the player and Fulham. Spurs had eyes for the 25-year-old Premier League defender and may sign him on a cut-price deal in January.

Tosin Adarabioyo had plenty of admirers this summer, and leaving the club during the window seemed imminent. The 25-year-old Premier League defender has a year left on his contract and wanted a new challenge, with Tottenham and Monaco few of the clubs chasing his signature.

Monaco saw a bid rejected late in the window but never came back with a new offer. The French side could return in January in an attempt to sign the 25-year-old Premier League defender but faces competition from Tottenham.

Spurs had a good window with their incomings and outgoings. They may have wanted to bring at least two new central defenders but managed to sign just Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg. The post-window departure of Davinson Sanchez also reduces their options at the back, with Ange Postecoglou now expected to bring back Eric Dier to the fold.

Dier reportedly was the subject of a swap deal involving Adarabioyo as Tottenham plotted a late move for the 25-year-old Premier League defender. Fulham’s rejection of a bid from Monaco begged many questions, as the Cottagers probably looked for more money from his sale.

Now, the report insists the relationship between Adarabioyo and Fulham had turned sour following the summer window. The news could boost Tottenham’s chances of a January move as Spurs will want to bring him on the cheap.

In the winter window, Adarabioyo will have six months left on his deal, which could open the doors for Spurs and others. The 25-year-old Premier League defender has plenty of experience, having played 108 times for the Cottagers, but felt the need for a new challenge.

Tottenham must get an agreement swiftly with Fulham, as there’s the potential entry of Monaco in the race for the defender. A move within London might suit Adarabioyo, but moving to France may also appeal to the 25-year-old.
