Stoke City transfer news as Alex Neil seals a late deadline day deal for Colchester United defender

Stoke City have concluded a relentless transfer window with the singing of Colchester United defender Junior Tchamadeu for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old, who was named League Two young player of the year last season, has signed a four-year contract at the bet365 Stadium after a summer of speculation about his future.

Junior Tchamadeu has joined Stoke City on a four-year deal.

 

He is the third deal over the line on deadline day, following Lynden Gooch and Sead Hakšabanović, and his arrival follows the exit of left-back Josh Tymon to Swansea.

Technical director Ricky Martin said: “Junior is an exciting prospect who possesses all of the physical and technical attributes to enjoy a successful career in the game.

“He is a player we have been interested in for some time and we are delighted to have got the deal over the line.

“To have produced high-quality performances with consistency at such a young age demonstrates tremendous potential.

Junior Tchamadeu has joined Stoke City on a four-year deal.

 

Tchamadeu scored five goals and set up another two in 41 appearances for Colchester last season.

He is confident that he is coming to the right place for his development.

“Since I first learned of the interest, I have been eager to complete the move to Stoke City and start the next chapter in my career,” he said.

“It feels like an exciting time to join and further develop my game with an ambitious Championship club.
