The midfielder currently applies his trade for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League, where he has been since August 2021. An excellent start

Stoke City began the 2023/24 campaign in fine form, winning two of their opening three league matches as well as securing a place in the next round of the EFL Cup.

The club beat Rotherham 4-1 on the opening day, before squeezing past West Bromwich Albion in the cup. Ipswich dealt a blow to their start with a 2-0 win, before Stoke bounced back with a 1-0 win against Watford at the weekend.

Stoke are slowly but surely building an excellent side that can become dark horses in the Championship this season. Burger is another strong addition to the side’s midfield.

Whether he can continue his fine form in England does remain to be seen, but with two assists in five games already this season, he will certainly be full of confidence upon joining the Midlands side.
