Bulls HC Opens Up On Relationship With 2 Suns Superstars
The Phoenix Suns pushed past the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, beating them 116-115 in a thrilling overtime victory.
During the game, Kevin Durant scored 25 points and Bradley Beal had his first game as a Suns player, scoring 14 of his own in 23 minutes.
After the game, Joshua M. Hicks spoke to Bulls head coach Billy Donovan about his relationships with both Durant and Beal.
He coached those stars at different points in their careers and had nothing but praise for them.
Donovan highlighted their “love of the game” and “internal drive to be great” and said he is very thankful to have worked with two people with such skill.
Donovan has been coaching the Bulls for four seasons now and is currently trying to help the team retain a winning record again.
That is easier said than done and the Bulls are currently 3-6.
Donovan started his NBA career with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a team he coached for five seasons.
It was during that time that he briefly worked with Durant.
Before that, he led the Florida Gators to back-to-back NCAA championships.
During his years with Florida, he coached Beal and got to know the young man well.
These days, Donovan has his biggest challenge yet.
The Bulls have been in a weird spot for the last few years and it’s not clear what the future holds for him and the team.
Just a few seasons ago, it seemed like Chicago had a lot of promise and could be one of the best teams in the East.
Now they are on the verge of being totally rebuilt by the front office.
Donovan’s future with the team is unclear and his job could be on the line if things don’t get better.
No matter what happens, Donovan obviously feels very thankful for his career and the connections he has made.
