Aaron Rodgers Returning To Green Bay Is Suddenly Gaining Momentum
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers parted ways this past off-season after 18 years. The future Hall of Fame quarterback felt it was time to move on, coincidentally, the Packers’ front office felt the same. Shortly before the 2023 NFL Draft (and nearly six weeks after Rodgers declared his intent to play for the Jets) Rodgers was dealt to New York for multiple premium draft picks.
However, as the 2023 season reaches the half way mark, an Aaron Rodgers return to Green Bay is actually on track.
Aaron Rodgers Returning To Green Bay In 2024 Is On Track Half Way Through This Season
Halfway through the NFL season, a reminder that the AFC East team that finishes in the same spot in its division as the Packers do in the NFC North comes to Green Bay next season.
If the season ended today, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets would play at Lambeau Field in 2024.
With Rodgers out, the Jets probably won’t keep pace with the Dolphins and Bills, but they should be able to keep pace with the two-win Patriots.
The Packers (likely) aren’t catching the Detroit Lions and may find it hard to keep up with Minnesota Vikings in NFC North. Although that may flucuate througout the season with Kirk Cousins now missing the rest of the year. Finishing ahead of the Chicago Bears? That’s almost a guarantee.
In comparison to Brett Favre’s 2009 return to Lambeau Field, Rodgers’ return would feel very different. It was Favre’s intention to prove a point when he returned to Green Bay with the rival Minnesota Vikings. While both sides felt it was time to move on (an many fans agreed), Rodgers left Green Bay being very vocal about how much love he still had for the team, fans, and area. The two split on relatively good terms.
It is very likely that if Rodgers does return to Green Bay in 2024, he will be met with open arms.
