NFL world reacts to terrible Jets news

It’s no real secret that the New York Jets have struggled on the offensive side of the ball this season, ranking No. 30 in the NFL out of 32 teams in terms of scoring offense with just 16 points per game. But there’s one more area where the Jets have been particularly terrible – third down offense.

As Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk points out, the New York Jets have the worst third-down conversion rate in the NFL going back to at least the 1991 season – which is as far as the data exists.

“With 10 games Who Is the New York Jets Head Coach?in the books, the Jets are now 30-for-131 on third downs this season. Pro Football Reference has data for those situations starting in the 1991 season and the 22.9 percent conversion rate is the lowest for any team over that span,” Alper wrote for Pro Football Talk.

It’s pretty terrible news for the Jets, as it means they’re making the wrong kind of NFL history, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

That’s certainly a stat the Jets will need to improve upon in the coming weeks if they hope to remain in playoff contention long enough for Aaron Rodgers to return to the team’s lineup.
