Tottenham academy defender, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, has bid farewell to the club after eight years, announcing his departure through a heartfelt message on social media.
In his farewell message, Fagan-Walcott expressed his gratitude to everyone at Tottenham, from fellow players to staff, for their support in his journey as a footballer.
He acknowledged the role they played in helping him chase his dream of becoming a professional footballer and developing as a person.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“After 8 years at Spurs the time has come for me to say goodbye.”
” I would like to thank everyone Spurs from players to staff for helping me become the person I am today, and helping me act upon a dream of become a professional footballer.”
Fagan-Walcott was once considered a promising academy prospect who could break into the first team at Tottenham.
He made his senior debut for the club in 2020 at the age of 18 during a Champions League match against RB Leipzig. However, this appearance remains his sole outing for the first team.
In 2021, the defender was loaned out to Dundee United but suffered a season-ending injury during his loan spell. Injuries have hampered his development since then, leading to his departure from the club.
With a fresh start on the horizon, Fagan-Walcott will be looking to revive his career away from Tottenham. The club underwent significant changes in its defensive lineup over the summer, with several players departing on loan or making permanent moves to other clubs.
The centre-back will be hoping that a fresh start away would help revive his career.
