Toon in talks over THREE new deals after Bruno Guimaraes breakthrough – Reports
Last week, we saw reports that the club were due to open talks with Callum Wilson and Fabian Schar – two players who are out of contract next summer, as things stand.
However, The Telegraph have revealed that discussions are underway over an extension for Joelinton.
This comes from North-East reporter Luke Edwards, who stated that ‘new contract talks have begun’ to see the Brazilian extend his stay on Tyneside. He signed a six-year deal when arriving from Hoffenheim in 2019 and that contract is due to expire at the end of next season.
A new deal for him would see him rewarded for his meteoric rise, where he’s not only gone from a stuttering striker to a midfield powerhouse who is now a regular in the Brazil squad.
Fellow South American Bruno Guimaraes looks all set to sign a new deal, but it would be great to see Joelinton, Schar and Wilson rewarded for their impressive performances since Eddie Howe took the job.
It may not be long until the likes of Schar and Wilson become squad players. However, I think it’s fair to say both have done enough to warrant new deals. Losing both for nothing next summer would certainly seem counter-productive, leaving us with two big holes to fill with no money to show for it.
