Tottenham agree deal for Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson to makes him their most expensive summer transfer

Tottenham have agreed a deal for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson, talkSPORT understands.

Forest, who will get £45m for their academy product, will now step up their interest in PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.

Brentford had also been keen on the talented winger, but their London rivals look to have beaten them to the Wales international’s signature.

The Forest academy product will be Spurs’ eighth signing of the summer.

He will also be the club’s most expensive addition this summer, edging James Maddison’s £40m move from Leicester.

Spurs have been in search of a boost to their attack following all-time goal scorer Harry Kane’s departure for Bayern Munich this summer and will be hoping Johnson can help replace his firepower from the wing.

The former England youth international scored eight goals for Forest in their first season back in the Premier League as well as featuring for Wales at Qatar 2022, playing in all three groups games.

Johnson racked up 109 appearances for the Midlands outfit, scoring 29 goals in that time and making 12 assists since rising to the first team in 2019.

He also helped Nottingham Forest to win promotion back to the Premier League, starting in the play-off final against Huddersfield.
