TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR MULL CHANGE OF STANCE AS LUTON TOWN TARGET ‘SPECIAL’ PLAYER’S TRANSFER
Tottenham Hotspur are now considering a change of stance after Luton Town tabled an offer to loan Japhet Tanganga against Spurs’ preference for a permanent transfer.
That is according to Ben Jacobs, who reports that Luton have now made Tottenham an offer to sign Tanganga. But the Hatters only desire to coax the 24-year-old to Kenilworth Road on loan for the season. While Spurs would prefer to sell with the centre-back not in their plans
Tottenham have made Tanganga available for a permanent transfer as Ange Postecoglou will not lean on their academy graduate’s services. The Australian will follow his predecessors at Spurs’ helm and only offer the defender a reserve role, should he fail to secure a move away.
Tottenham will consider Luton’s offer of a loan transfer for Tanganga
Tanganga has attracted further interest in a potential transfer from Serie A giants Inter Milan and Super Lig side Galatasaray. But the Italian and Turkish clubs are still yet to advance their pursuits. Sevilla have also now opted to cool their interest having recently considered a deal.
Thus a loan move to Luton is the only offer Tottenham currently have to consider as the club weighs up Tanganga’s future. The Hatters have tabled a formal loan proposal for the former England U21 international. So, Spurs are now considering whether or not to accept the deal.
A loan spell at Kenilworth Road could rescue Tanganga’s Spurs career
Tanganga faces yet another season on the sidelines should Tottenham reject Luton’s offer of a loan transfer. Postecoglou omitted the defender from his matchday squad as Spurs started the season at Brentford. While Tanganga only played in seven games all campaign last term.
Between Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason’s tenures, Tanganga only featured in four Premier League matches in 2022/23. He additionally turned out twice in the FA Cup and once in the Champions League. But those outings only totalled 343 minutes altogether.
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville called Tanganga ‘special’ given his form back in August 2021. So, a loan move to Luton could help him recapture that potential. Tottenham do not have to sell the defender this summer with his contract running to 2025. But he needs match action.
