Ange Postecoglou prepares enormous $150m double swoop for Real Madrid and Barcelona pair
Tottenham transfer news: Spurs could find themselves with a massive double La Liga haul by the end of the week
Tottenham haven’t spent big in the transfer market. While their London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal have spent a combined £558million ($710million) on players, Spurs’ biggest signing of the summer has been James Maddison for around £40million.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have been linked with numerous stars throughout the weeks, but nothing has come to fruition on deals with the likes of Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson just yet.
But now Spanish outlet Nacional (via Football365) claim that Tottenham have sent a bid of £86million ($110million) to Real Madrid in order to acquire the services of winger Rodrygo on a permanent basis.
The Brazilian international has proved vital for the Spanish giants over the past few years, becoming a cult hero at the club after scoring twice late on against Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final in 2022 to help them through to win their 14th European Cup.
football.london says: We all know Tottenham have a lot of spare cash after the exit of club legend Harry Kane over the summer. It’s about time they put it to good use.
A bid of £86million would absolutely smash the club’s record fee for a signing, which currently sits at £53million for Tanguy Ndombele a few years ago. Chairman Daniel Levy is apparently ‘obsessed’ with the 22-year-old amid claims he’s leading the charge for the star himself.
n what is now Carlo Ancelotti’s last season with the side, he’ll want as many weapons as he can get especially after losing star striker Karim Benzema to a mega-money Saudi Arabian contract.
With only a few days to get the job done, Levy will have to work a miracle in order to get Rodrygo’s team and Madrid on board with the proposal but stranger things have happened late on in transfer windows.
Another incredible development over the last 24 hours has seen Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a deal that no one would’ve seen coming.
The 20-year-old recorded seven goals and three assists in just 12 starts under Xavi last season, and would help Postecoglou’s side tremendously with filling the void left in the wake of Kane’s exit earlier this month.
football.london says: Well, what a steal this could be for Spurs. One of the world’s premier young talents landing on their doorstep on loan, what more could Ange Postecoglou ask for to end the transfer window?
It should be noted that some reports are claiming that they’ll only entertain Fati if they fail to land Brennan Johnson but a loan move to secure a premier talent this late on in the window doesn’t come around very often.
Barcelona and the player’s agent are pushing for an exit as well, and while there are claims that Fati isn’t as convinced about a move to Spurs, seeing what he could do in La Liga at just 20 years old will bring a lot of excitement to supporters if he does arrive.
He’d help bolster the left-hand side if captain Son Heung-min ever needed resting, but can also play through the middle and on the right if necessary.
While Spurs would likely have to front up all of his wages (which are reportedly £200,000 ($254,000) per-week), it’d still be a huge get for a team still pushing to finish in the top four.
