Tottenham Hotspur’s Davinson Sanchez reluctant to join Spartak Moscow

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Davinson Sanchez is apparently ‘reluctant’ to go to Russia despite Spurs accepting a bid for him.

Spartak Moscow apparently had a £12.9million bid accepted for him by the Lilywhites but he doesn’t want to leave for the Eastern European country, as per Sun. That could be a problem for Spurs.

It seems they are more than willing to sell him for the right price and it seems tough for another team to come to the table with such a bid. He hasn’t been impressive in recent years here.

Sanchez has been erratic and error-prone at times and hasn’t convinced any manager at Tottenham to make him a pinned starting centre-back. He still has one year left on his contract (Transfermarkt).

What next for Sanchez?

The 27-year-old came on in the 14th minute against Brentford on Sunday after Cristian Romero was substituted with a concussion. He had a decent game as Spurs finished the game 2-2.

His reading of the game, speed and decision-making fail to impress at times. But he can do a decent job as a fourth or fifth centre-back. If he is happy with that role, there is no harm in keeping him here.

The problem lies with his contract. It would be a shock if Spurs offer him a new deal and he accepts it, given his inconsistency in recent seasons.

Moreover, if the Colombia international wants to reignite his career and become a regular, irreplaceable starter in his country’s XI, he would have to join another team

But it seems he isn’t open to leaving Spurs for Spartak Moscow. Perhaps a team with a bigger stature playing in a more renowned league would sway his head. In that instance, Spurs have to make sure they don’t compromise on their centre-back depth and enter the season with at least four quality CBs.
