Huddersfield Town swoop to appoint 52-year-old Swansea City figure in key role
Huddersfield Town have announced the appointment of Lee Maybury as their new head of recruitment, bringing him in from Swansea City.
The summer transfer window is done and dusted but Huddersfield Town haven’t stopped making moves.
The Terriers look to have made a significant move off the pitch to bring in a new head of recruitment at the John Smith’s Stadium. As announced on the club’s official website, Lee Maybury has taken up the influential role in Yorkshire.
Maybury, 52, joins from Championship rivals Swansea City after serving his notice period in South Wales. With the Swans, he worked as chief scout, a role he has plenty of experience in after holding that position with Portsmouth, Stoke City and Burnley over the years. While with the Potters, he worked alongside the Terriers’ sporting director Mark Cartwright.
He comes in as the replacement for Emyr Humphreys, who moved on from Huddersfield earlier in the summer.
Work to do
It wasn’t the busiest transfer window for Huddersfield Town. They signed only four players, with Chris Maxwell, Ben Wiles, Delano Burgzorg (loan) and Tom Edwards (loan) arriving over the course of the summer.
As head of recruitment, Maybury will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment process at the John Smith’s Stadium. The hope will be that in the coming months, work can go into identifying potential winter additions after a quiet summer for the Terriers.
Maybury’s experience in his role as a chief scout should serve him well in this new role with Huddersfield. Hopefully, his connections across the game and experience in scouting can help the Terriers identify some eye-catching additions as they look to avoid another fight to maintain their Championship status.
Neil Warnock’s side sit 21st as it stands after collecting four points from five games.
